Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is also referred to as Antonietta Gonzalez-Collins in both the US as well as Mexico, is an American-Mexican sportscaster. Her current job is with ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN in 2016. Her mother is the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been since when she was nine years old. The ability to speak two languages allowed her to land her first position at Univision, Miami. Then, in St. Petersburg, she was hired as a reporter by the CBS station to work as an sports reporter. Then, shortly afterward they separated, and, in 1995 Fabio Fajardo remarried. He died of kidney cancer in the year 2006. On a trip Antonietta was staying at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins brother had recently been offered a new job. Still a senior in high school and yet with a clear idea what she wanted to do with her life Antonietta visited her local University of Mount Union to assess if it suited her needs. The campus was beautiful and offered the degree she was looking for. When she completed her high school education she attended the university to study media studies. She developed a long-lasting relationship with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor at WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a member. The passion he had for journalism as well as confidence in her own abilities instilled confidence in her. In turn, she attempted to live up to the standards he set and to not let him down.
